Shield
Red and white are the colors of the Engineers Corps. The design of the coat of arms is based on the coat of arms of the former 105th Engineer Battalion and a white outer band has been added to show the descent and relationship to that unit. The symbolism, copied from the authorization letter of the former 105th Engineer Battalions coat of arms, is as follows: The three fleurs-de-lis are taken from the coat of arms of St. Quentin and also represent the principal engagements of the organization during the World War [World War I]. The eradicated bend indicates the organizations participation as combat troops in breaking the Hindenburg Line.
Crest
The crest is that of the North Carolina Army National Guard.
The coat of arms was approved on 6 February 1997.
